Salford City Council - Record of Decision

Disposal of Former Broughton Library, Bury New Road,   Salford


I, Councillor Paula Boshell, Deputy City Mayor, in exercise of the powers contained within the City Council’s constitution do hereby:-


  1. Approve the disposal of the former Broughton Library, Bury New Road, Salford by way of a 250 year leasehold subject to the lease held by The Interlink Foundation.


  1. Instruct Urban Vision to progress detailed negotiations with the purchaser to give effect to the proposed transaction on the principle terms detailed within the report.


3.    Authorise the Shared Legal Service to negotiate, agree and complete the necessary documentation and the taking of all steps which are expedient to give effect to the above recommendations


The Reasons: Granting a 250 year lease will give long term security to both charities who are based in the premises, allowing them to expand further the services which they provide.
