Governance (Constitution)(England) Regulations 2012, although Local
Authority (LA) Governors are appointed by the governing board, the
LA are still required to nominate prospective candidates and have
to ensure the procedures they have adopted for selecting their
nominees meet the requirements of the statutory guidance ‘The
constitution of governing bodies of maintained schools –
statutory guidance for governing bodies of maintained
schools and local authorities in England.’
