To hear an application for a variation to a premises licence for the following premises:

 Name of premises: The Almeidas Cafe

Address of premises: 237 Bolton Road, Salford M6 7HP.

Item 2  Almeidas Cafe

Decision:  To grant the application for variation as follows:-

Hours for Sale of alcohol

Monday-Sunday : 12:30-22:30

Opening Hours

Monday-Sunday :06:30-22:30

With conditions consistent with the operating schedule.

Reasons:

The Committee heard that the Applicant wanted to open earlier in the day in order to sell breakfast to customers. She planned to attend at the premises at 6 am to start preparing the food but was not intending to open the premises until 6:30 am She also told the Committee she wanted to open on a Monday and extend the hours of operation on a Sunday in response to customer demand. She told the Committee that the altercation in the alley referred to by the Objector was not connected to her operation as the alley was gated and she had she had only recently acquired a key to the alley. She confirmed that customers did not have access to the alley and went outside to smoke.   The Applicant told the Committee there had been no altercations or incidents in the premises and that the customers came from both the local community and the Portuguese community in the wider area. The Committee accepted that the incidents of antisocial behaviour referred to in the residents objection were not connected with the operation of these premises. 

The Committee considered the Applicant was a responsible operator and given the nature and location of the business the Committee did not consider that granting the variation on these terms would undermine the Licensing Objectives. 

To hear an application for a new premises licence for the following

premises:

·         Name of premises: Un.Titled Studio

·         Address of premises: Untitled Studio Ltd, Astor Road, Salford, M50 1BB.

Item 1 Un.titled Studio

Decision: To defer the hearing until 10 am 8 September 2023.

Reasons: 

The Committee heard that the Applicant had requested a deferment of the hearing as he not available to attend the hearing and was still in negotiations with objectors . The Panel considered it was in the public interest to defer the matter in order to allow discussions to continue between the parties and also in order that the Applicant can attend the hearing .
