{meta} ePetition - Save Village Street Park

ePetition details

We the undersigned petition the council to Reject the current proposal (submitted by "Walsingham Planning") to build houses on the space. Ensure the space is maintained as recommended in "Conservation Area Appraisal THE CLIFF" report 2008: "that Salford City Council and partner agencies seek to identify funding to ensure that the one small park at Village Street is maintained to its current standard."

We object to the destruction of this valuable and distinct green space.

The Conservation Area Appraisal recognised the park as the "only park" within the conservation area, which is part of the council's planning policy framework, in line with The Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 which provides the current legislative framework for the designation of conservation areas.

A conservation area is defined as ‘an area of special architectural or historic interest, the character or appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance’.
